I am understanding that wavelets have a bandpass filter response due to their compact support, and when doing decomposition they are used as a high pass filter along with the scaling function as a low pass filter in DWT. So my question is how does the wavelet perform as a high pass filter and does not attenuate near nyquist frequencies since it is bandpass in nature?
