I trying to build 27 points long median filter on FPGA using Verilog. The filter is 1-D (used to clean noise from a spectrum - I want to clean some random peaks).
I already built an 9 points median filter using this paper.
Now I want to build a 27-point median filter using the same algorithm presented there but to extend it to 27 input points, I tried to extend it but faced a failure in the implementation and the complexity was too hard.
Does it seem possible to extend the algorithm there for 27 - 54 median filters?
Is there is some efficient algorithm for long median filters for HDL? (27~54 points)
