For CPM and FSK, how to measure a received signal's INITIAL phase based on its I and Q components given a buffer of received samples of the signal?

  • $\begingroup$ Phase is not a general property of signals, but only for signals that you can relate to a "phase is zero" version. So, no general answer at this level; need more info about the signal! $\endgroup$ – Marcus Müller Jun 1 at 7:37

  • $\begingroup$ then you still need to define a reference version of the signal. Phase is a relative measure. For both modulations, phase is not the information-carrying entity, so you can't reconstruct phase from the demodulated data. $\endgroup$ – Marcus Müller Jun 2 at 14:01
