I think the Tandy Color Computer had a 8-bit DAC that was fed to the cassette output and a comparator input, and could either be fed to the speaker or muted, and could be used as a configurable reference when reading data from cassette, but I don't think any other machines of that era had anything beyond one bit input and output. | |
